Friday Fast Five - 1/30/2026

Five interesting things that Hodges Capital research analysts discovered this week...
#1 The Board of Peace: In his first appearance at Davos, Musk opened his conversation with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink by referencing the formation of a peace summit: a President Trump–led signing ceremony for the founding charter of his “Board of Peace.” The organization’s mandate is to pursue a long-lasting agreement and rebuilding in Gaza. Its scope has since expanded to broader international conflicts and could eventually rival the United Nations. More than 50 world leaders have signed on.
#2 Robots Will Eventually Outnumber People: He predicted that the world will reach a point where “there will be more robots than people,” arguing that robots and AI will “saturate all human needs.” Musk said Optimus robots are already performing basic factory tasks and could be available for purchase by “the end of next year,” adding that they will be ideal for assisting the elderly and watching over pets. He emphasized that AI and robotics will drive a global economic explosion, framing them as the only viable path to “abundance for all.” He also stated that self-driving cars (a form of robotics) are “essentially a solved problem,” noting that insurance companies already offer discounts, reflecting their proven safety.
#3 Aging Is a “Very Solvable Problem”: He argued that human aging can be solved and suggested that once scientists identify the root cause, it will become “incredibly obvious” how to treat it. He emphasized that the body ages uniformly, noting that he has “never seen someone with an old left arm and a young right arm,” implying a synchronized internal mechanism coordinates aging across the body’s ~35 trillion cells. In a related conversation about his Starship space program, Musk joked that he would like to die on Mars—“but not on impact.”
#4 Are There Aliens? — “I Am an Alien”: In a humorous moment, Musk repeated his long-running gag about being an alien, saying, “I am one, but they don’t believe me. If anyone would know if there were aliens among us, it would be me.” He added that if aliens existed, we would likely have encountered them by now, noting that consciousness appears to be extremely rare.
#5 Did He Read Our Friday 5, “Not in My Backyard,” Last Week? He warned that the biggest bottleneck in the AI revolution may not be algorithms but energy supply, noting that massive computing power will create unprecedented electricity demand—potentially limiting AI growth. He pointed out that solar power is the largest energy source, with the Sun comprising 99.8% of the mass in our solar system (with Jupiter a distant second at 0.1%). Solar panels are up to 5x more efficient in space than ground-based installations, supporting his interest in launching solar-powered AI data-center satellites.
