Five interesting things that Hodges Capital research analysts discovered this week...

#1 FREIGHT SHIPMENTS: The shipment component of the Cass Freight Index increased 1.9% y/y in September, marking the second consecutive month of growth following a three-and-a-half-year downturn.

#2 BULL MARKETS: The U.S. bull market is entering its fifth year, marking only the sixth time in the last 13 bull markets since World War II that a bull market has lasted long enough to reach this stage. In year five, the average S&P 500 Index return has been 20.8%, according to Bloomberg and CFRA.

#3 TOP OF MIND: A recent poll from Pew Research Center continues to show that the costs of gas, food, and housing are the most concerning economic issues facing Americans today. Fewer than 25% of Americans remain concerned about how the stock market is performing.

#4 RETIREES: Social Security benefits are set to increase 3.6%, marking the largest cost-of-living adjustment since 2023, according to the Social Security Administration.

#5 QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "Experience is what you got when you didn't get what you wanted." — Howard Marks
